MAKER PROJECTS

DO_LINKER

A kit of MDF laser-cut junction pieces that enables you to create your own furniture from start to finish, all while learning DIY skills.

CONCEPT

How to educate, teach, and empower users to build furniture in a fun learning environment ?

The goal is to equip users with the knowledge and tools needed to create their own piece of furniture from start to finish.

DO_LINKER provides a comprehensive kit inspired by plastic model planes.

This kit includes clear instruction booklets and integrated tools, enabling users to construct a chair from scratch. Through this process, users gain a deep understanding of the chair’s structure. This hands-on experience not only teaches them to build a chair but also imparts fundamental skills they can apply to future DIY projects.

DEVELOPMENT

Why a chair is the ideal demonstrator for furniture structure ?

A chair, with its structural and junction points on every XYZ axis, is the most effective way to understand the mechanics of furniture construction.

The final kit is inspired by the plastic model plane system and includes two MDF laser-cut plates with all the necessary junction parts, engraved instructions for cutting pine cleats needed for the chair’s structure, a unique tool to ensure precise cutting angles and distances for the cleats, and an instruction booklet to guide the entire process.

Unlocking endless possibilities with a comprehensive furniture building system

The next step involves developing a complete system that offers a wide range of sizes, shapes, and configurations, all based on the same fundamental principles.

This system goes beyond just building a chair. It opens up a world of possibilities, allowing users to create a diverse array of furniture pieces. Imagine constructing tables, shelves, desks, and even custom storage solutions, all with the same ease and understanding gained from building a chair. The versatility of this system means users can adapt and modify designs to suit their unique needs and preferences.

By mastering the basics, users can explore their creativity and take on more complex projects. The system encourages innovation and personalization, providing the tools and knowledge to transform any idea into reality. Whether it’s designing a minimalist coffee table, a robust workbench, or a stylish bookshelf, the potential is limitless.

This comprehensive approach not only makes furniture building accessible but also fosters a deeper understanding of construction principles, empowering users to confidently tackle future DIY projects with creativity and skill.
