Design of transitional furniture to support the CCO’s move to l’Autre Soie, Villeurbanne.
Inspired by Victor Papanek’s « Nomadic Furniture » and the concept of « weaving bonds, » we have envisioned shared workspaces and social areas, along with « small follies » that bring the place to life, featuring collective governance and communication centered on « living together. »
Our team of designers has worked to give the CCO of Villeurbanne’s commission a deployable dimension, both semantically and practically. Rather than creating objects, we have designed systems, devices, and user manuals that open the way for reinterpretation of our proposals. We gave them deployable models, ready to be reworked, copied, enlarged, reduced, explored, and utilized for their functionality rather than their form.
« L’Autre Soie » is a project to rehabilitate the former IUFM in Villeurbanne, aimed at promoting urban solidarity, social and cultural innovation. This project aspires to create a meeting place to develop both individual and collective resources while redefining the connection with the neighborhood.
Before construction begins in 2020, a temporary occupation of the ground floor will preview this significant project. Twenty-two organizations will occupy various spaces, both communal and individual. We have designed an economical, practical, and temporary layout to facilitate this collaborative occupation.
